Inspired by this famous quote from Buckminster Fuller the renowned architect, systems theorist, author, designer, inventor and futurist – the Coplexia collaborative operating model framework was developed to make existing collaboration models obsolete.
(Some say in certain areas it already has.)
Far from wanting to work against the status quo, we’d rather work with the existing establishment to help them transform for the better.
For instance, in designing the Legal Services Continuum (LSC) programme, our ambition wasn’t to become the UBER of the legal profession (just think how much more successful UBER could have been if it had worked with rather than against traditional taxi companies). Nor did we intend to become ruthless asset stripping acquirers of poor performing law firms, ineffective marketing service providers offering nothing of much substance, nor yet another ‘virtual law firm’ risking quality of service at the expense of end-client interests.
We set out to establish a ‘virtual head office for actual law firms’ instead; and we aimed for the moon knowing that our model had to be embraced by the established institutions of the profession (such as The Law Society, Legal Services Board, Ministry of Justice, Courts, universities, and the like) as much as those operate within (and auxiliary to) it.
Its through working together as #VirtuallyOne that we’ve achieved success so far, and we know we need to continue the transformational journey before existing models are replaced with new norms.
