Professional Profile

Alain has nearly fifty years of professional and business experience encompassing law and industry.

Having set up as a sole practitioner in 1973, a firm which later expanded into a multi partnered organisation, Alain put his legal practice behind him in 1977 and set up a construction company to develop and build private housing and commercial projects throughout Greater Manchester.

In 1987 after a brief resumption of his law firm, Alain together with a business associate then established a small conglomerate of companies comprising door manufacturing, timber and builders merchants, transport and an investment vehicle which included insurance and forestry interests. After the business was sold in 1997 Alain moved to London, returned to the law and for the following eighteen years or so practised as a specialist in employment and commercial agency law.

Alain brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to both Coplexia Corporation and our extended Collaborative members. Internally, he sits as special advisor on the LSC Programme Steering & Commissioning Board, and will assist in the training and mentoring of our young recruits. Alain is also charged to help external clients with some of their most challenging decisions, from the strategic to the operational, a role that often calls for his supervision of CoBRA consultants to ensure co-operational excellence and ultimate success.

Professional Profile

The Solicitors practice of Fairchild Greig & Co., first established in West London in 1919 by William Fairchild Greig, became the second oldest firm in the area and in 1936, William’s son Roger took over the running of the office until his retirement as senior partner in 1974, handing over the reigns to Mr Oliver Dobbs as senior partner in 1974 who established an office at Gerrards Cross, under the name of Fairchild Dobbs & Co.

Mr Duncan Halliday became the principal in 1997 when Fairchild Dobbs & Co. became a separate practice. He had joined the firm as an associate solicitor in 1978, became a partner in 1989, and continued to run the practice until March 2018 when the practice closed with the view to retirement.

In April 2018, Mr Halliday was persuaded to join Coplexia Collaborative LLP to assist in the development of our Legal Services Continuum (LSC) Programme, whose objectives are to help solicitors across England & Wales to improve their performance, profitability and pension pots. While the practice of Fairchild Greig has closed, its good name and reputation shall live on as part of plans to relaunch it as a pan-London legal practice offering a broad range of legal services to the domestic and international market by 2019 – in time for its centenary .

In the meantime, as a Member of the LSC Programme Steering & Commissioning Board, Mr Halliday is helping Coplexia stay grounded as we develop Lexia Law, a brand new legal services bureau with innovative plans work very differently within the legal and related professions. Watch this space!
